Me...
Hey! My name is Leisa, and I live in Miami, Florida, USA. I was born in rural Canada, but ended up here in the States several years ago. It's always hard to summarize yourself in a sentence, so I'm going to tell you a few things about myself that, although they don't define me completely, pretty much sum up my character.
I'm addicted to COFFEE. I guess everyone has a vice, and coffee is definitely mine. I live with it.
I LOVE animals. Just between us, I'm more comfortable with animals than I am with most people. It'll be our little secret.
I make things. Lots of things. I sew, I knit, I crochet... I do paper arts, I dabble in graphic arts... I am really happy when I am creating. Take a look at the blog and you'll see some examples!
I've developed a pretty profound enjoyment of cooking. That's not to say that I'm great at it, but I have my specialties--and I am also addicted to food blogs.
I read a lot. Books, blogs, newspapers... as long as it holds my interest, I'm in. With me it's never just one book at a time--before I came into the digital age I used to have a stack of books sitting on my nightstand... now my ebook reader is charged and ready, and holds over 200 books. I always liked to say that I read according to my mood at any given time, and therefore can be reading four or five books at once. Surprisingly, I do not suffer from ADHD.
I'm fascinated by the New England Journal of Medicine Image Challenge. I confess that it's a vestige of my medical days, and it is still delivered to my email inbox. The grosser, stranger, more astounding the photo, the better. I think maybe it is the challenge of trying to figure out the problem while simultaneously being thankful that I'm healthy and relatively unscathed :-)
I love Jeopardy. I am a geek. I would rather watch Jeopardy than a sitcom. True words.
I love things in little bottles and jars. When Sephora has a gift with purchase or AVEDA sends along a little something extra, it makes me inordinately happy. Half the time I stash all the little lotions and potions away for when I travel, then forget to take them out to use them during the trip... so they sit all lonely and sad in an Origins organic cotton cosmetic bag (yes, also a gift with purchase ) and wait for their time to shine. This will be the year, my pretties... I promise.
I always wanted to be a writer--when I was young, I had notebooks full of juvenile scribblings. Half-finished mystery stories, romances, and memoirs... they were all in a box that didn't make it through last March's flood. Fortunately, there is a lot more still in my mind waiting to be put on paper. Some of it may just find its way to the surface here....
Thanks so much for stopping by! Take a look around, and I hope you enjoy your time here :-)
